To other nations as a deeply shamed US citizen

Photo by Gage Walker on Unsplash

I am sorry.
I am shamed.
I am appalled.
I am heartbroken.
That “the peaceful transfer
of power” we wore so proudly
is now in rags

our democracy on life support,
paramedics praying, by no means sure
this time

they can resurrect
this broken life from this cross
called Trump.

Like many of you, I am watching the news — protesters storming the US capital, incited by the President, urged to “combat” by his henchman Rudy Giuliani, and God knows what else by DT’s children. (I call him DT in reference to Mark Twain’s term for delirium tremens; I am inebriated with horror that the party of Lincoln elected him.)

Publishing this simply to publish it because I need to get this out now. But I AM tagging a few friends whom I believe reside elsewhere than the US — Linda Caroll, Desiree Driesenaar, J.D. Harms, James G Brennan, Øivind H. Solheim, Rochelle Silva, Imad, Carolyn Hastings, Vishnu*s Virtues, Victor Sarkin, Amy Marley, Jacobo the First — or who may resonate. Trista Ainsworth, Melissa Bee, Michael Stang, Whitney Rose, Simran Kankas, Suzanne V. Tanner, kurt gasbarra, Dennett, Captain Argentina

Thank you for reading this rant.
