In the US, the Trump Republicans are proposing policies that would effectively doom the global climate change fight, and have widely promoted laws gutting the ability of public health authorities to fight disease. Thus it’s not surprising that the anti-science cult of the right is so obsessed with societal collapse; their avowed plans are likely to cause it.
