Beautifully expressed, Tom. And oh how I relate! Life when full of too many commitments on long to do lists does indeed deplete our muse. I scarcely wrote a creative sentence all the years I was raising my children and working. I gave up but always felt ‘off’ which is why I retired as soon as I could. Perhaps that’s why many writers go on retreats.
