Didn’t know where
I wanted to go,
but I had to go,
anywhere but where I was,
where she was,
the woman of dreams
who now owned my nightmares,
the one I let kill what little
self-esteem I had,
what little pride 
I owned
now dirt
under her shoes…
so I ran away,
waited until
she left for work,
packed one bag,
took the dog, drove
to California, b…
