FASCINATING. I know a fair bit about Louis XIV as a king, the whole sun king thing...but knew nothing about his personal life, except the names of his two famous mistresses. Know a fair amount about Marie A so I know about the feud; I think many of the nobility, including Louis XIV's sisters, fueled it for reasons of their own. Marie A. was not exactly the brightest bulb out there until it was way too late.

I'm inspired to look up bios of both Pompadour and Du Barry. Did Du Barry survive the Revolution???
