Humanity is so skewed off base, off center, off the heart at times...

… playful run ends in a fall, the couple holding hands in the café, sipping wine, eating a dessert. Tourists walk by the man, carefully sliding away as they pass… invisible, just another homeless, when is the city going to do something they mutter, but they stop and pet a small, white, fluffy dog on a leash, happily prancing in front of an old woman with a shopping bag. He sees it all, misses nothing, wondering why kindness in the world never touches him.

Humanity is so skewed off base, off center, off the heart at times...
I've never been homeless but, like many women, I have a secret fear of winding up on the street. Can't remember not having it. Not sure what's up with that but I suspect it had a hand in my working in a shelter as a volunteer. (LA Mission)
