I don't know about all mothers, Danielle, but as a mother with an urge to create I absolutely felt the ambivalence and loneliness etc you describe. It is hard - my all grown up daughter is now experiencing what I felt. (Her son is turning 2 in March) With Covid added in. I deliberately moved only 7 minutes away so I can pitch in but she's still struggling.

Regarding your writing - you are writing so much more than I did (virtually nothing except press releases for my job) as a young mother/mother of teens.

Only now, in my mid 60s, retired, am I finally Writing.

I say this not to discourage you but to applaud you for your work on Medium (and perhaps elsewhere) and reassure you that your time will come...and you'll find yourself missing those days when your children were young. Go figure! :)
