I first read GWTW when I was 13 in the late 60s. I stayed up nights, enthralled. I read the book yearly for decades...then I began twitching because of the portrayals. Not Mammie so much as the words shiftless etc. Even tho I knew this was historically accurate. NOW I'll re-read the book. WOW
