I knew the name...thought he was a composer...but had to google to make sure. Years and years ago, I know I read somewhere in The Magic Mountain "all writers are frustrated musicians" It struck me - reflecting my life. A piano major lacking the divine spark - becoming an English major. I must have mis-memorized the wording, however, because I can't verify this quote to save my life, but the sentiment is Truth. Don't all writers hear the music in words? Mann comes to me again as I begin this piece.
