I loved learning more about Diwali - a celebration I didn't know until joining Medium. I had many holiday traditions raising my children as well - and, like you, I miss them. But I try, when 'down', to focus on gratitude for having them. There's a Dr. Seuss line: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." The quotation helps when I miss the past.
