I worked in PR until I retired - an exhausting occupation for an introvert at times. Like when I'd have to meet with groups and 'pitch' the orchestra I was promoting. Or meet with potential donors and do the same. I'd be so thrilled to get home and just BE STILL. QUIET. Silence!!! My young son (at the time) watched me in action at an event and, as we drove home, said, "I didn't know you liked people so much." "I don't," I replied. "It's my job."

Actually, I DO like people. But NEVER crowds or large groups. One on one time is lovely...but even then, after a point, I need to be solely with myself.

Obviously by all my highlighting, I totally related to your article. I was certainly one of those shy children who grew up thinking something was wrong with me.
