I've never been to Mardi Gras but I have been to New Orleans twice. Made a pilgrimage past Anne Rice's house! I believe James Carville lives there now.

Entrancing city though I guess I'm getting old - I was disappointed to find so little jazz on Bourbon Street. Just lots of loud rock music. But I did make it to Preservation Hall!

Tried gumbo - loved it, except for the okra. Slimy! It must be a Louisiana thing like cheese curds for WI natives. :)
