My 36 year old son shared with me his own fears of disappointing his father just a few weeks ago.

…l you in truth that those words almost broke me, and almost bring me to tears thinking of them now. In an instant I remembered the feeling when I thought I’d disappointed my stepfather because I couldn’t play a sport or fix a car or do some other thing that a boy, a man, should be able to do. I remembered the feeling when he’d shake his head and walk away from me.
