My son and son in law and a friend are in the same boat on that ocean called Please Give Me a Chance. The problem is (I read somewhere) algorithms are the first readers of those cover letters - no heart in them.

Also I totally empathize because it's the same way for poets - it's why I gave up submitting to editors of snooty print journals
