Welcome to poetland. So many people see the word poetry or poem and immediately shut down - precisely because so much (snooty)poetry is absolutely not understandable. You should see the stuff in poetry journals. And the 'elite' look down on my all time favorite modern poet, Mary Oliver, who died recently. Look her stuff up. You will love her.

What I suggest is you change a few words in your piece and submit it to a publication sympathetic to & supportive of poetry. Age of Empathy. Genius in a Bottle. Scrittura (I think they publish articles, not sure). Blue Insights is another. You'll get tons of reads.
